The Vivian Maier Microfiction Project

In 2014, I found out about Vivian Maier and her body of work. Evocative portraits from the streets of numerous cities in the West, Maier took special care to document myriad aspects of America in the 1950s, an era that is problematic in the whitewashing it has enjoyed in our modern era from areas of privilege.

Inspired by her work, I began a collection of microfiction pieces inspired by individual photographs. Due to copyright laws, I am unable to share the actual photos themselves, but hopefully the pieces, inspired as they are by such breathtaking works of art, may stand on their own as well.

Thank you for following the Vivian Maier Microfiction Project.
